After winning young chef of the Year on Merseyside, Sous chef Tom Lee went forward to compete in the final of Young Northwest Chef of the Year on 2nd June. He came runner up out of 6 finalists only missing out by 2 marks. Congratulations to Chris Rawlinson of The Red Cat in Cheshire who will be the recipient of a 3 year scholarship and will have the opportunity to work overseas with a chosen chef.
Tom was also shortlisted for the BBC’s Young Chef of Year, and from shortlist of a thousand, Tom got to the final 20 with Judges Prue Leith and Tom Aitkins. Our Tom was the only chef in that final 20 not from a Michelin starred restaurant. Tom Aitkens, was so impressed by Tom that he invited him to do a “stage” at his Restaurant.
